As a member of the Diocese of Texas, St. Mary's participates in the Diocesan Mission Funding process. Mission Funding is the way that we as individual congregations voluntarily join other congregations in our diocese to reach out as One Church, empowered by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to minister to others, to share God’s love and to transform lives. Our Parish supports the Lampasas Mission by collecting non-perishable food items on the first Sunday of each month, as well as making quarterly cash donations. We also have a food drive in conjunction with the Halloween Event that our Youth Group Sponsors.
Lampasas Mission, staffed by volunteers only, has served the people of Lampasas County since 2002. In 2008 the mission provided food to 2,296 households, which equated to 7866 individuals. Of that 2,296 households, 179 were new households. The mission also opened a clothes closet in January of 2009. The Lampasas County community has stepped forward with donations of food, money, clothing, household items, and their time in order to serve those who are in need and St. Mary's is proud to be part of this initiative.
